Joel O. Williams

Overview

Joel Williams, President of Mid-South Consulting Engineers, Inc., received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Joel has an Associate of Arts Degree from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina. Joel also served in the United States Army in Germany and Vietnam. Joel is a Registered Professional Engineer in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Joel started his telephony career as a craftsperson for AT&T in Stanfield, North Carolina in 1971. He was responsible for E-2 alarms, private line board, buildings, power, microwave and government radio, and L-4 carriers.

Joel is the current President and CEO of Mid-South Consulting Engineers, Inc. Joel joined Mid-South in November of 1977 as an OSP Project Engineer. He worked as a Project Engineer on Area Coverage Design for Randolph Telephone Company of Liberty, North Carolina. He designed an electronic concentrator plan for Ellerbe Telephone Company of Ellerbe, North Carolina, and he helped to develop a fifteen-year long range plan for Yadkin Valley Telephone Membership Corporation in Yadkinville, North Carolina. Joel also proposed and designed work orders and cutover for a period of two years for ALLTEL South Carolina, Inc. in Lexington, South Carolina. He has designed numerous programs for cost studies, projection of subscribers, and other telephony projects. He has worked in all phases of telephone engineering, design, central office, carrier, outside plant, assignment, testing, etc.

In January of 1985, Joel became Vice President of Mid-South Consulting Engineers, Inc., responsible for all engineering operations of the company. In January of 1987, Joel became President and CEO of Mid-South, responsible for general management, client relations, and marketing of the company.

As of October 2008, when Mid-South Consulting Engineers, Inc. became a subsidiary of Mid-State Consultants, Joel has been the Regional Vice President for Mid-State Consultants, Inc.
